WW1 Ingersoll Crown “V.A.D.” (dated 12 / 3 / 18) Brass-cased mechanical pocket watch engraved “A. E. Pearson 12/3/18 V.A.D.” (Volunteer Aid Detachment). Winds, ticks, and holds time. Original glass with minor scratches; clear dial with light age marks. Complete with chain. Era: WW1 (Georgian V). History: Ingersoll “Crown” watches were issued or purchased privately during WW1 by soldiers and medical staff. V.A.D. engravings are uncommon and desirable — especially when named and dated during active service. Ada Ellen Pearson served in the V.A.D during WW1 from 28/05/1915 to 16/03/1919, at a best guess, this is the inscriber of the date and initial on the pocket watch, see final picture.https://vad.redcross.org.uk/record?rowKey=169331
